The conference is aimed at the goal of building a leading power in science and technology by 2035. It firmly grasps the major national needs during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period and the significant breakthroughs in key materials. Seventeen experts from the fields of rare earth and magnetic materials across the country delivered excellent academic reports. Among them, Researcher Hu Fengxia from the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Senior Engineer Sun Wen from the Ningbo Institute of Materials Science and Engineering Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Wu Chen, Associate Professor Jin Jiaying, Qiao Xusheng from Zhejiang University, and researchers from the Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths and other institutions respectively introduced the research achievements of their respective teams from the directions of rare earth magnetic materials, rare earth hydrogen storage materials, rare earth catalytic materials, rare earth infrared heat storage materials, rare earth structural materials and so on.

Rare earths are an important strategic resource in China, an indispensable “vitamin” for the new materials industry, and the cornerstone supporting the high-quality development of advanced new materials. Magnetic materials are close to the end of the supply chain of rare earth products, with high technological content and significant economic added value. Therefore, the coordinated scientific and technological development between rare earths and magnetic materials is of great significance for ensuring the national economy, national defense construction, and people’s livelihood.
